HomeMy WebLinkAbout1928-03-23 Board of Public Works Minutes March 23, 1928. Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the Town Building at seven-thirty P.M. ' There were present:- Harry N. Brown Miles C. Higgins Martin B. Hartshorn Harold W. Putnam Samuel H. Davis, and the Superintendent. After discussing the matter of the payment of . the men in the several departments when not on duty, it was voted that the men be paid only for services actually rendered, and in the event that a man is absent by reason of extraordinary circumstances, the Board would then deal with this specific case upon application of the Superintendent. A letter was received from Mr. M. S. Wright, 32 Hillcrest Road, recuesting the Board to complete the sidewalk in front of his , premises, and he was notified that the Board would grant this request and attend to the matter in the near future. The Board voted to purchase the supplies needed for the several departments for hardware for the ensuing year from Treat Hardware Corporation of Lawrence, which submitted the lowest price, $138.76, for the complete list of supplies. The Board discussed the matter of reconstructing the Mineral Street Bridge. Major Berg of the Wakefield Rifle Range appeared before the Board and reruested that the Town make specific-repairs on the private road in Reading, leading to the Rifle Range and he was informed that the Superintendent would examine the condition of the road and would , advise him later what action would be taken.
