HomeMy WebLinkAbout1928-03-02 Board of Public Works Minutes March 2, 1928. Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the Town Building at seven-thirty P.M. There were present:- John W. Owen Miles C. Higgins Chester J. Wallace Harry N. Brown Samuel H. Davis, and the Superintendent. The plan of the Malden & Melrose Gas Light Company for the laying out of a six inch extension of gas main on Lowell Street was approved by the Board. Mr. Wilfred E. Pratt, 208 Summer Avenue, appeared before the Board and entered a complaint that water coming down Ellis Avenue settled in front of his premises, and he was informed that the Board ' would look into the matter and take the necessary steps to improve the situation. A letter was received from Fannie C. Nichols, a property owner on Van Norden Road protesting the proposed relocation of the side lines of Van Norden Road and requesting the Board to remove the bound stones from her land. She was notified that this Board would place the protest on file and remove the bound stones at once. A True Record:- Attest:- Samuel H. Davis SECRETARY. March 9, 1928. Davis, and the Superintendent. Voted: To proceed to the election of a Temporary Chairman to serve until the permanent chairman was electe:l and Miles C. Higgins was duly elected Temporary Chairman and presided at the meeting. It was voted to proceed to the election of a permanent Chairman for the ensuing year, and Harry N. Brown was duly elected Chairman and thereafter presided at the meeting. It was voted to proceed to the election of aSecretary for the ensuing year and Samuel H. Davis was thereupon duly elected ' Secretary and accepted his election. A letter was received from the Neighborhood Betterment Association inviting the Board to be present at a special meeting '.. of the Association for the purpose of discussing various articles in the Town Warrant. The Board approved the voucher for the payment of interest on the bonds in the Water Department. A letter was written to the owners of Austins ' Lunch requesting them to install at once a grease trap to prevent the discharge of grease and other substances from flowing into the sewer thereby interfering with the proper operation of the sewerage system.
