HomeMy WebLinkAbout1928-02-10 Board of Public Works Minutes February 10, 1928. Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the Town Building at seven-thirty P .M. There were present:- John W. Owen, Miles C. Higgins Chester J. Wallace Harry N, Brown Samuel H. Davis, and the Superintendent. Mr. A. C. Wallace, High Street, appeared before the Board and complained that water settled on his property, and he was informed that this water came from adjoining property and that the Board would look into the situation, and see if anything could be done. Mr. W. P. Davis, Woburn Street, took up with the Board the matter of the acceptance by the Town of Wanda Street, a private way, and he was informed that just as soon as the things called for by the plan approved by the Board of Survey were completed, the Board would be glad to recommend the acceptance of this street. A letter was received from Lester S. Riley requesting that a sign be placed on Woodward Avenue, and he was notified that signs were in process of construction and that a sign would be placed on Woodward Avenue in the near future. A notice was received from the Finance Committee to meet in joint session on Monday evening, February 13th at eight o'clock to discuss this Board's Budget for 1928. A letter was received from the Board of Trade, requesting a list of the requirements of materials and labor for the ensuing year for the competitive bidding for the business by Merchants of Reading, and the Board of Trade were notified that such a list had not been complied, and their letter would be kept on file for , future reference and that this Board would give preference to Reading merchants whenever it was possible to do so. Mr. E. S. Steel appeared before the Board with reference to the acceptance of Gilmore Avenue, a private way, and he was informed that if an investigation showed that all the requirements were complied with, the Board would be glad to recommend the acceptance of this street as a public way. The Board acting as a Board of Survey approved the plan of the Star Realty Trust, showing the laying out of Pinevale Avenue and Star Road. A True Record:- , Attest:- Samuel H. Davis SECRETARY.
