Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the Town
Building at seven-thirty P.M. '
There were present:-
John W. Gwen
Miles C. Higgins
Chester J. Wallace
Harry N. Brown
Samuel H. Davis, and the
Superintendent.
Mr. Chester A. Gibson of Forest Street, called to the attention
of the Board the dangerous condition of the curve on this street and
he was informed that no widening could be made at this time because
there was no money available for this purpose, but that this
condition would be abated as much as possible.
Mr. George P. Abbott notified the Board that he was inserting
an article in the Warrant asking the Town to release him from the
four per cent guaranty on the water used by the takers on Cottage '
Park Avenue, and he was informed that this Board had no authority
to release him from his guaranty and that such action would have
to come from the Town.
The petition of the Municipal Light Department for location of
six poles on Wakefield Street was granted by the Board.
A petition was presented to the Board by owners of property
on Park Street, a private way, requesting that repairs be made on
this street. The signers of the petition were notified that the
Board had no authority to cause repairs to be made on a private way
unless before so doing, the applicants shall first give the Town
security satisfactory to this Board, that they will indemnify the
Town for all damages and charges which it is obliged to pay by ,
reason thereof, and all such damages and charges shall be repaid
to the Town by the persons making such application.
' Mr. Carl Spencer discussed with the Board the figures submitted
for the needs of the departments under the control of this Board,
which are being considered by the Committee appointed to estimate
the needs of the Town for the next ten years.
