Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the Town
Building at seven-thirty P.M.
There were present:-
John W. Owen,
Miles C. Higgins
Chester J. Wallace
Harry N. Brown
Samuel H. Davis, and the
Superintendent.
In the matter of the request of Maxims Pinean for the Town to
construct a drain across Salem Street near Libby Avenue, the Board
decided that there was no occasion at the present time for construct-
ing such a drain, and the applicant was duly notified.
Mr. George P. Abbott, Cottage Park Avenue, appeared before the
Board and asked the Board to consider waiving the. provision in his
contract with the Town for the guaranty of four per cent on the
' water furnished the users on this street, and he was informed that
the Board would look into the matter and advise him later.
Dr. N. M. Halligan, Chairman of the Board of Health, came before
the Board and requested that a sewer connection be made with the
sewer, so that the sewerage from the cesspools could be emptied into
the sewer rather than into the lot on Pleasant Street. The Board
voted to construct a special man hole on the line of the main sewer
with proper connections to Provide facilities for taking care of the
sewerage from cesspools, and Dr. Halligan was duly notified of this
action.
Mr. Alfred L. Maggi discussed with the Board the matter of the
drain across his lot on Copeland Avenue and it was decided to make a
' further investigation of this matter and take the same up with him
later.
The Board approved the plan of the Malden & Melrose Gas Light Co.
for the extension of the gas main on Sunnyside Avenue.

A letter was received from Mr. Safford, Superintendent of
Schools, with reference to plowing the snow from the paths and
driveways at the different schools and he was notified that the
Board would plow the several schools the comin7 winter.
