Meeting of the Board of Public Works ,
There were present Mr. J. W. Owen, Chairman, Mr. Chester W. ,
Wallace, Mr. Harry Brown and the Superintendent.
The Board approved the lay-out of the 6" Gas Main on Prospect
Street, from approximately in front of #93 in a North-westerly direction
beyond Woodbine St.
Mrs. Capin, who owns property on South Main Street near the
Stoneham line, conferred with the Board in relation to land owned
by the Town of Reading adjoining her property, she claiming that the
property belonged to her. Mr. Owen councelled her to take the
matter up with the Board of Assessors, since it did not come under
the jurisdiction of the Board of Public Works.
There were four gas permits approved for laying services in
and about Town. '
The Superintendent discussed the program of the Water and
Highway Departments.
The Highway Departments after finishing Forest Street, it was
decided would go then to Temple Street, where the sewer had recently
been constructed, and scarify, shape up, roll, and apply Tarvia "B"
on said Street:. ' .
From this Street to take up Lowell. Street Sidewalk and be sure.
of the latter's condition being is good shape before school begins.
To carry on also at the same time sidewalk work, which has come
in to this office, and also to carry out the maintenance work bn
School and Beech Streets, since such work on these latter two streets
was post-poned on account of water main extensions being constructed.
In regard to the new drain on Prescott Street, the Superintendel
was ordered to have at least 6" of concrete over the pipe where there
was not a cover of 3 1/2 ' .

On account of the sewer being, constructed in Prescott Street,
it was decided to open up Woburn Street and fence off the catch
basin on the North side where there exists an excessibe crown on the
road surface.
