HomeMy WebLinkAbout1927-05-20 Board of Public Works Minutes May 20, 1927. Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the ' Town Building at seven-thirty P .M. There were present:- John W. Owen Miles C. Higgins Chester J. Wallace Harry N. Brown Samuel H. Davis, and the Superintendent. A letter was received from Mrs . Vaughan F. Burnham with reference to the sidewalk in front of her premises on Auburn Street, and she was notified that the grade of the sidewalk would be cut down in due course. A letter was received from Mrs. Clinton E. Newell, complaining of the condition of the land in the rear of the Central Fire Station used for storage purposes by the Water Department, and she was notified that the Board would consider this matter with a view of , improving the same. A communication was received from Miss H. A. Brown, Visitor for Board of Public Welfare, requesting an extension of .thirty days for the payment of the water bill of R. P. Seeliger, 96 Washington Street. Upon the request of the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, this extension was granted, and Miss Brown duly notified. It was voted to purchase the coal necessary for the pumping station for the coming year from the Russell Coal Company at $6.96 per ton. It was voted to purchase a compressor with equipment for the use of the three departments similar to the type demonstrated by the Worthington Pump Company on the highways several weeks ago.
