Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the Town
Building at seven-thirty P.M.
There were present:-
John W. Owen
Chester J. Wallace
Harry N. Brown
Samuel H. Davis , and the
Superintendent.
It was voted that the Superintendent be authorized and instructed
to have the Hodge Boiler Works of East Boston, make the necessary
repairs on the stand pipe, and have the same painted.
The Malden & Melrose Gas Light Co. requested permission to
open and occupy sidewalks on Main Street, between the Railroad and
Lowell Street, Ash Street, Haven Street, Reading Square, to the Rail-
road Station (both sides) , and it was voted to grant permission to
open and occupy such sidewalks with the express understanding that
' such sidewalks opened will be replaced at their expense in first
class condition.
A letter was received from John Fay with reference to the
condition of the sidewalk in front of his premises at 49 Washinton
Street. He was notified that the grade of the sidewalk could not be
changed, and that the situation was caused by his lawn being much
higher than the grade of the sidewalk.
