HomeMy WebLinkAbout1927-03-17 Board of Public Works Minutes March 17, 1927. Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held this day at the Town Building at seven-thirty P.M. There were present: John W. _Owen Miles C. Higgins Chester J. Wallace Harry N. Brown Samuel H. Davis, and the Superintendent. Voted: To proceed to the election of a Secretary for the ensuing year. Samuel H. Davis was thereupon duly elected Secretary andacceptedhis election. Voted: To proceed to the election of a Chairman for the ensuing year and John W. Owen was duly elected Chairman and there- after presided at the meeting. A letter was received from the Chairman of the Board of .Health ' calling attention to the unsanitary condition of the premises owned by Christine F. Atkinson, at 32 Washington Street, caused by the saturation in the fround from the cess pool. He was advised upon the filing of a petition for sewer by the property owners on this street, the Board would take the. matter under consideration. The 'estimates for making the repairs at the pumping station were submitted to the meeting and it was voted to award the contract for making such repairs to Charles J. Hines of Salem, whose figure was Six Hundred Eighty-six (686) Dollars, the lowest bid. The Superintendent was instructed to notify Mrs. Cummings and Mr. Goff to appear before the Board on March 25, 1927, for conference with reference to the matter of the taking of land across their ' premises on Tmeple Street for the sewer to the new Junior High School. The matter of repairs to the highways and the installation and construction of drains was discussed. A True Record:- Samuel H. Davis Attest:- SECRETARY.
