HomeMy WebLinkAbout1926-07-23 Board of Public Works Minutes July 23, 1926 ' Members present: John W. Owen, Joseph W. Rooth, Frank C. Carter, Samuel Hobbs, M. C. H1?gins, and the Superintendent. Mr. Collins and Mr. Hobbs made a report in regard to loading machines. They were favorable to a machine costing $1500.00, sold ' by the New England Road Machinery Company, who will allow us $800.00 in trade on our stone crusher. Mr. Ernest T. Wakefield has offered to sell about nine acres off Haverhill Street for a sand bank. A similar offer was received from Angelo 7anni for about ten acres off Haverhill Street adjoining the Wakefield property. In neither case was a price ouoted. A letter was written to George F. Nowell of Arlington Street in answer to his complaint regarding the soft tar at High and ' Woburn Streets. Mr. Dana Perkins was informed by letter that the Board could see no objection to the proposed plans for land development west of Lowell Street. Mr. Cefalo has agreed to lay approximately 700 feet of 6" pipe on Forest Street, between Main and Pearl Streets , at the same price as the "Forest Street '.Cxtension" . This will tie in a dead end and make a complete circulation of the Franklin-Haverhill Street line. Permits were granted to the Malden & Melrose Gas Company to install mains on Grand Street; also to extend the main 150 feet westerly on Prescott Street. Respectfully submitted, M. C.
