Others Present: Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Richele Shankland Topics of Discussion: 1. Review minutes from the April 3,2019, meeting. a. Motion made by Eileen Manning to approve the April 3, 2019,minutes. Seconded by Michelle Greenwalt. 2. Update on School Happenings a. ELA MCAS done and math starts next week. b. Transition meetings gr 6/7 and 7/8 next Monday night May 6. c. End of year activities: Science Expo June 5,Concerts June 4&6, Move up Day June 10, Field Day June 12,Promotion Ceremony/Dance June 13,Kimball Trip for gr 8 June 14,Last Day June 17 (dismissal at 11:00) d. Field day discussion—themes are hard for families but colored t-shirts are fine. e. Parents inquired about how we can give our Spanish students a better experience. Students thought they were wasted days but liked the field trip. Thoughts: Spanish game show, Spanish jeopardy, send to elementary schools to give short Spanish lessons, Spanish speakers, Go to tour companies with Spanish speakers,have college students who study Spanish come work with the kids on a project, independent Spanish projects, could include watching a movie that's in Spanish. 3. Complete progress update on 2018-2019 School Improvement Plan a. Discussion about possible goal topics for next year(presented by Principal) i. improving attendance ii. Inclusive practices(continued):train the trainer, Committee to work through DESE materials over the summer and work through with staff through PD time iii. Continued math practices work(differentiation) iv. Advisory and Ext HR structure,topics Page I 1 v. Team Time structure vi. Collaborative problem solving/restorative justice for teachers b.
