HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-09-24 Board of Survey Minutes September 24, 1956 A meeting of the Board of Survey was held at 8:00 P.M . Present were Chairman Johnson, Messrs Donahue, Zanni, Hopkins, Kilgore and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Hearing held at 8 :00 P. M. regarding the proposed change of grade of Kieran Road, which runs from William Road in a Northeasterly direction a distance of 1G.16.22 feet more or less to a dead and. Present at the hearing were William T. Angelini, 632 Main Street, Malden; Henry J. Angelini, 632 Main Street, Malden; Chairman Robert S. Clinch, of the Reading Planning Board, and Secretary W. Franklin Burn- ham, of the Reading Planning Board. Board also received a letter from Frank M. Stevens, Secretary, Meadow Brook Golf Club; suggesting that it would be mutually beneficial to the Town of Reading and the future plans of the Meadow Brook Golf Club to have a possible entrance to the club property from Kieran Road. After some discussion it was voted to take the grade change of Kieran Road under advisement pending further study of the Meadow Brook Golf Club request. Rearing held at 8:15 P. M. regarding the proposed grade change of Joseph Way, which runs from Kieran Road in an Easterly direction a distance of 638.74 feet more or less to a dead end . The grade change of Joseph Way was also taken under advisement. The same persons being present at this hearing as were recorded at the Kieran Road Hearing. Public Hearings were held starting at 8:30 P. M. on the four streets hereinafter described, regarding the acceptance of lines and Grades under the Board of Survey. (1) Maple Ridge Road, which runs Easterly and Southerly and South Westerly from Pine Ridge Road to Ash � . Hill Road; (2) Ash Hill Road, which runs in a Southerly and South East- erly direction from Maple Ridge Road to Walnut Street opposite Curtis Street; (3) Balsam Road, which runs Southerly from Maple Ridge Road to Maple Ridge Road at the intersection of Ash Hill Road; (4) Hemlock Road, which runs Southerly and Westerly from Maple Ridge Road to Pine Ridge Road. These roads comprise the so-called Teel Development situated Northerly of Walnut Street, Easterly of Pine Ridge Road, Southerly of Oak Ridge Road . Mr. Guy Teel the owner, Mr. H. Kingman Abbott, the owners Engineer, and Mr. Jackson, representing Massachusetts Builders the prospective purchasers, explained in detail, on being questioned by the abuttors present at the Hearing, on the general layout of the devel- opment. Superintendent Putnam of the Public Works Dept, was also called upon to explain the Board of Surveys responsibility in the development. Attorney Dailey representing Mr. Teel and Massachusetts Builders dis- played photographs of the type of dwelling houses Mass. Builders intend to erect in this development. Many questions were asked regarding the construction of roads, drains and houses. The following persons were present who upon being polled expressed their opinions as noted: L.
