HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-01-16 Board of Survey Minutes January 16, 1956 The meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 8 :00 P. M. Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. 'Lanni, Johnson, Donahue and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting held December 19, 1955 read and approved. Hearing held at 6 :00 P. M . on proposed change of grade on Henzie Street, from Grove Street Easterly 604.78 feet to a dead end . Henzie Street, part public, part private way, was approved for lines and grades by the Board of Survey on June 8, 1926, but was actually constructed at a lower elevation than the established grade, and houses, lawns, drives and walks have been installed to the grade at which the street was constructed. Present at the hearing were the following listed abutting property owners, who expressed their opinions on the proposed grade change as noted: (HENZIE STREET) Mr. Carlton Roderick 9 Henzie Street, Reading, Mass. Yes Pauline R. Howard 71 Grove Street, Reading, Mass. Yes Moved, seconded and voted to effect grade dhange on Henzie Street as shown on B. P. W. Plan A-17-81 dated January 16, 1956. Preliminary hearing held at 8 :30 P. M. on proposed layout of Marla Lane, which runs from Forest Street Easterly of Grove Street in a Northerly direction a distance of 466 feet, more or less, to a turn around. Present were the developer, Mr. Robert Burette, and 1 Realtor Urban McNally. As some 460 lineal feet of storm drain is necessary in Forest Street to properly drain this proposed street, the developer and the Board discussed the situation at some length. The final proposed as decided by the Board was as follows, regarding the drain to be installed in Forest Street: Developer to excavate drain trench, purchase pipe, and cold patch trench. Town to lay drain pipe, back fill trench, install two manholes, and ultimately final-patch trench. Developer Surette agreed to confirm this by letter to Board. Board adjourned at 9:00 P. M .
