HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-11-26 Board of Survey Minutes Reading, Mass. , November 26, 1951 The regular meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 8:00 P.M. Chairman Hopkins, Messrs . Donahue, Calvin, Harrison, Walker and Superintendent Welch were present. Held Preliminary Hearing for proposed road off South Street near Curtis Street to be known as Sturges Road. Following persons present: Mr. C. Sumner Teel Mr. Teel agreed to file a performance bond in the amount of $3,000 to cover the following items: 1. Pipe in ditches 2. Four Catch Basins & Two Manholes 3. Grade road to a subgrade 12 inches below the finished grade. Date for Final Hearing to be set as soon as completed plans are received. Mr. George Macintosh conferred with Board relative to proposed width of streets in a proposed development of lands lying northerly of Gleason Road. Mr. MacIntosh spoke at length in defense of his claim that he had filed an application for this development prior to November 1, 1951, the date on which streets of a minimum width of 50 feet became effective. Voted to allow Mr. MacIntosh to lay out this development using 40 -foot street layouts subject to existing rules and providing that all outlets to abutting lands be 50 feet wide.
