HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-11-15 Board of Survey Minutes November 15, 1965 Meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 7:50 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman Cochrane, Board Members Florence, Kenney and Leonard and Superintendent Welch. Read note from the Superintendent to the effect that the developer of Red Gate Lane (Lester Peabody) feels that the Notice of Hearing was defective and requests that a new Hearing be advertised. Town Counsel joined the meeting. The question of the legality of the Board of Survey Hearing was posed to him. In his opinion, the Notice was correct and it was agreed that a new Hearing would not be advertised. f The Board reconvened the adjourned Hearing on Red Gate �r Lane in Room 2. The Hearing was for the development of so-called Red Gate Lane off Walnut Street and was adjourned from Monday, November 8, 1965. Thirty-seven persons attended the Hearing. The Board received petition from two abuttors on the proposed extension of Sylvan Road voicing their objection to the extension. Mr. David Brack presented a duplicate of the petition presented at last week' s Hearing bearing eleven addi- tional names. The main claim of the abuttors is that there will be an Increased flow of vehicular traffic from Summer Avenue to Walnut Street if the proposed extensions are permitted. According to the abuttors, it will endanger the lives of the many children re- siding in the areas. Questioned also was the necessity of five `r means of ingress and exit. The Superintendent again stated the legal rights of the abuttors and developer. Those present were Informed that the Board of Survey could approve, disapprove or approve the plan with recommended changes. Town Engineer Lousnis explained the plana to the group after the official meeting was over. The matter was taken under advisement. The Board convened in Room 16. Read letter from the Board of Health in regard to proposed development of Edward Small - Osborne Avenue off Pleasant Street, stating that the aforementioned development is suitable from a sanitary point of view for human habitation, sewerage, atom drainage and public water supply as shown on the plan. It will be endorsed on the 4 plan as a prerequisite of approval of the Board of Survey. The date was accepted as a point of information. Meeting adjourned at 9: 00 P.M.
