Meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 7:50 P.M. in
Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Cochrane, Board Members Florence,
Kenney and Leonard and Superintendent Welch.
Read note from the Superintendent to the effect that
the developer of Red Gate Lane (Lester Peabody) feels that the
Notice of Hearing was defective and requests that a new Hearing
be advertised. Town Counsel joined the meeting. The question of
the legality of the Board of Survey Hearing was posed to him.
In his opinion, the Notice was correct and it was agreed that a
new Hearing would not be advertised.
f The Board reconvened the adjourned Hearing on Red Gate
r Lane in Room 2. The Hearing was for the development of so-called
Red Gate Lane off Walnut Street and was adjourned from Monday,
November 8, 1965. Thirty-seven persons attended the Hearing.
The Board received petition from two abuttors on the
proposed extension of Sylvan Road voicing their objection to
the extension. Mr. David Brack presented a duplicate of the
petition presented at last week' s Hearing bearing eleven addi-
tional names.
The main claim of the abuttors is that there will be an
Increased flow of vehicular traffic from Summer Avenue to Walnut
Street if the proposed extensions are permitted. According to
the abuttors, it will endanger the lives of the many children re-
siding in the areas. Questioned also was the necessity of five
`r means of ingress and exit. The Superintendent again stated the
legal rights of the abuttors and developer. Those present were
Informed that the Board of Survey could approve, disapprove or
approve the plan with recommended changes. Town Engineer Lousnis
explained the plana to the group after the official meeting was
over.
The matter was taken under advisement.
The Board convened in Room 16. Read letter from the
Board of Health in regard to proposed development of Edward
Small - Osborne Avenue off Pleasant Street, stating that the
aforementioned development is suitable from a sanitary point of
view for human habitation, sewerage, atom drainage and public
water supply as shown on the plan. It will be endorsed on the
4 plan as a prerequisite of approval of the Board of Survey.
The date was accepted as a point of information.
Meeting adjourned at 9: 00 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Secretary
