HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-06-22 Board of Survey Minutes June 22, 1964 Meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 8:00 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman Kenney, Secretary Cochrane, Board Member Watt and Superintendent Welch. Public hearing was held regarding acceptance of the lines and grades of Colonial Drive which runs in an Easterly and Northeasterly direction from Linnea Lane, a distance of 1215 feet more or less to a dead end; and Barbara Lane which runs in a Southerly direction from Colonial Drive, a distance of 460 feet more or less to a dead end; and Dana Road Extension which runs from Colonial Drive in an Easterly direction, a distance of 177 feet more or less to Dana Road; and Brewer Lane, which runs in an Easterly direction from Colonial Drive, a distance of 500 feet more or less to a dead end; and an unnamed street which runs in a Westerly direction from Colonial Drive, a distance of 175 feet more or less to a dead end. Eighteen persons attended the Hearing. Several resi- dents of Dana Road protested vigorously the extension of Dana Road. It is their contention that extension of the road to eliminate the dead and would increase greatly the flow of traffic. Other resi- dents of Dana Road did not object to the extension. Mrs. Winifred Kreuger of 94 Dana Road questioned reten- tion of the circle; Mr. and Mrs. George F. Fiorello, 93 Dana Road and Francis F. Maguire of 19 Linnea Lane were concerned with �" drainage. The Chairman polled the abuttors as follows: - In favor - 5; opposed - 1; non-committal - 0. Four residents of Dana Road were opposed. Notice of the Board's decision will be sent to all persons who attended the meeting. Mr. Cochrane moved, Mr. Watt seconded and it was voted to tentatively approve the lines and grades of Colonial Estates pending execution of agreements, completion of certain items of work and the filing of necessary bonds. Public hearing was held at 8:30 P.M. regarding the acceptance of lines and grades of Belmont Street Extension which runs from the present terminus of Belmont Street in a Nor- therly and Westerly direction, a distance of 2018 feet more or less to Pearl Street; also Chequesette Road which runs in a Southerly and Easterly direction from Belmont Street Extension, a distance of 1250 feet more or less to Belmont Street Extension. Fifteen persons attended the hearing. Anna MacKillop of 58 Orange Street questioned drainage of her property. Mrs. Doris J. Stewart, 91 Pearl Street objected to the traffic problem which, in her opinion, would ensue with another street entrance at the island. The abuttors were polled as follows: - In favor - 5; opposed - 4; non-committal - 3• Mr. Watt moved, Mr. Cochrane seconded and it was voted to tentatively approve the lines and grades of the Belmont Park Subdivision pending execution of agreements, completion of cer- tain items of work and the filing of necessary bonds. _ Public hearing was held at 9:00 P.M. regarding the ac- ceptance of lines and grades of Collins Avenue which runs from Franklin Street in a Northerly direction, a distance of 900 feet more or less to a dead end. John P. Collins and Brendan L. Hoyt attended the meet- ing. The Chairman read letter from the Board of Health regarding restriction placed on Lot 18 which is described as not suitable for human habitation. Mr. Tutt moved, Mr. Cochrane seconded and it was voted to tentatively approve the lines and grades of the Franklin Estates pending execution of agreements, completion of certain items of work, filing of necessary bonds and recognition of re- striction by the Board of Health on Lot #18.
