Meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 9:30 P.M.
in Room 14, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Florence, Secretary Leonard,
Board Members Hodson and Watt, Assistant Superintendents Putnam
and Watson and Civil Engineer Boutiette.
Conference was held with Roland Hoag, Attorney for
Lester J. Peabody (Normandy Trust ). Mr. Hoag requested that
Mr. Peabody be allowed to furnish a Surety bond for Whitehall
Lane instead of a cash bond and the time limit of the Surety
bond be extended beyond one year, or that a section be written
into a bond stating that the developer may, when the completion
date arrives, be granted an extension.
® Mr. Hoag also requested two changes in wording in the
Performance Bond under Miscellaneous, Section 12. Mr. Florence
advised Mr. Hoag to write a letter to Mr. Welch confirming his
requests. Town Counsel's opinion will be requested.
Final Hearing was held in Room 16 regarding the accep-
tance of the lines and grades of the following streets:
FAIRVIEW AVENUE EXTENSION which runs in an Easterly di-
rection, a is ance o 6.98 feet more or less, from
the present end of Fairview Avenue to a dead end;
SUNNYSIDE AVENUE EXTENSION which runs in a Southerly di-
rection, a distance of 73 .72 feet more or less, from
the present end of Sunnyside Avenue to a dead end;
MELBOURNE AVENUE EXTENSION which runs in an Easterly di-
rection, a distance of--37.91 feet more or less, from
Sunnyside Avenue Extension to a dead end;
ELIZABETH LANE which runs in a Southeasterly direction,
a distance of 517.09 feet more or less, from Fairview
® Avenue Extension to Melbourne Avenue Extension.
J Twelve persons attended the meeting. Mr. Boutiette explained
the technical details. Seven persons voted in favor, none op-
posed, none non-committal.
Mr. Amon advised the Board that he and Mr. Nigro have
in hand all papers which were requested at the meeting of June
12 on the Pallotta Development. Mr. Boutiette suggested that
the easement from Maple Street opposite Center Avenue out to
the proposed drainage ditch be shown on the plan. A meeting
will be arranged with the Superintendent at which time a definite
completion date will be set.
It was moved, seconded and voted that the Board of Sur-
vey plan on said development be tentatively approved.
Information was presented to the Board of Survey from
New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and Reading Municipal
Light regarding cost of underground utilities to new developments.
This data was accepted as a point of information.
Meeting adjourned at 10: 10 P.M.
