A meeting of the Board of Survey convened in Room 16, Municipal
IBuilding at ?: SS F.M. Present were Secretary Wood, Board Members DeHart,
I{ Fallon and Barker, Superintendent E. Roger Louanis and Assistant
�+ Superintendent William R. Bergeron.
Secretary Wood assumed the Chairman's position in his absence.
Mr. DeHart read the Notice of Public Hearing regarding the laying
out as a public way, D Street under the Betterment Act. Approximately
twelve people iattended the hearing.
Mrs. Wood introduced the Board and stated Mr. Bergeron would make
a presentation, questions would be forthcoming from the Board and then the
Board and Mr. Bergeron would entertain questions from the citizens.
Mr. Bergeron outlined the work required *. parferm the
betterments, and a handout was given to the citizens outlining the costs
of each of the three options available to them. Option I is the street
only, Option II is the street plus granite curbing, Option III is the
street plus granite curbing plus sidewalks.
Superintendent Louanis pointed out that if the street is accepted
under the Betterment Act, the citizens have the option of spreading the
cost over a 20 year period and paying interest on the unpaid balance.
There was a general discussion and question and answer period.
The Board asked for a vote from the abutters by Friday, February
26, either way.
It was moved, seconded and voted 4. 0 to close the Hearing at 8:36
P.M.
