Meeting of the Board of Survey convened in Room 16, Munici-
pal Building at 9: 10 P. M.
Present were Chairman Cowell, Secretary Wood, Board Members
DeHart, Fallon and Barker together with Clerk of the Board E.
Roger Louanis and Finance Committee Member Linscott.
Mr . Rivers appeared before the Board regarding his request
of the Board to eliminate the construction of a bituminous con-
crete sidewalk on Warren Avenue Extension . He stated that the
rest of Warren Avenue did not have any paved sidewalks and a side-
walk around the cul-de-sac would have very little value and would
have an adverse affect on the permeability of the soil in that
particular area. Mr . DeHart felt that it was not a true statement,
for as a homeowner he would like to have a sidewalk for his child-
ren on which to ride bikes and tricycles, etc. Mrs Wood asked Mr.
Rivers if he would be willing to pave the proposed walk easement
in lieu of the sidewalk. Mr. Rivers said he would be willing to
work something out in that area but he would like to relocate the
walk easement from Washington Park across Lot 9B to the northerly
property line as it would open up the lot for better utilization .
It was pointed out this would bring the walk easement closer to
other properties and the Board had already received a complaint
from one owner on Riverside Drive about the present easement from
Riverside Drive to the Park.
The Superintendent suggested that the paving of the easement
with bituminous concrete might not be in the best interest of
everyone concerned and probably the walk easement should be con-
structed of gravel and stone dust for a width of approximately 5'
from Warren Avenue to the park and from the park to Riverside Drive
with a bituminous concrete area between the sidewalk area and
Riverside Drive .
Mrs. Wood moved, that the requirement for the bituminous
concrete sidewalk on Warren Avenue Extension be waived and the
' walk easement shown on the plan from Warren Avenue Extension
to Washington Park and the walk easement from Washington Park
westerly to Riverside Drive be constructed of gravel and stone
dust five foot wide and that a five by six foot bituminous concrete
area be constructed between the sidewalk and the curb on Riverside ,
Drive opposite the walk easement and reserve the right to install
a fence in the easement between the park and the back of Lot 9.
It was seconded and voted 5-0-0. The Board signed the Plan .
Meeting adjourned at 9 : 55 P . M. .
Respectfully submitted,
