Meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 8:35 P. M. in
Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Russell , Secretary Dustin, Board
Members Blood, Price and Botka, Superintendent Louanis and
Assistant Superintendent Bergeron.
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as written.
The Board met with Mr. John Manning, owner of a parcel of
land on Sanborn Lane, represented by Attorney 0. Bradley Latham
and Peter Ogren from Hayes Engineering. Mr. Latham made a pre-
sentation for his client who proposed to subdivide a parcel of
land abutting Sanborn Lane into seven lots stating he felt this
subdivision did not require approval under the Subdivision Con-
trol Law. He indicated the existing roadway currently services
some owners to the west of the lots in question and that they
have telephone and electric service and that the road isa twenty-
four foot right of way open to the public for many years. It
was also indicated that the owner would be willing to provide
a fifty foot right of way and develop a plan and profile and
be willing to extend facilities (water and sewer) to the lots
in question but did not feel it would be economically feasible
to develop the land in question in conformity with the Board of
Survey rules and regulations. After considerable discussion
with members of the Board it was moved, seconded and voted that
the request for the proposed lots be disapproved on the grounds
that in the opinion of the Board of Survey the present way does
not have sufficient width, suitable grades and adequate construc-
tion to provide for the needs of vehicular traffic in relation to
the proposed use of the land abutting thereon or served thereby
and for the installation of municipal services to serve such land
and the buildings to be erected thereon.
' The Board met with Aurele Cormier at 9: 10 P.M. Peter Ogren
of Hayes Engineering represented Mr. Cormier and pointed out that
the proposed extension of Milepost Road would run easterly to
Hopkins Street exiting on Hopkins Street approximately 400 feet
from Main Street and since this would provide an alternate
access to the Hopkins Farm Subdivision, requested the portion '
of Haystack Road exiting onto South Street be abandoned.
After considerable discussion it was the sense of the Board
that they could approve the extension of Milepost Road but
would not abandon the portion of Haystack Road so that the
subdivision of approximately sixty homes would have three means
of access and egress. '
The Board met with Mr. Albert Symes and Peter Ogren of
Hayes Engineering regarding the proposed extension of Country—
side Lane. Mr . Ogren presented the plan of the proposed exten—
sion which would add five lots to Countryside Lane to be sewered
by means of an ejector sewer station. Mr. Ogren requested the
Board consider eliminating the requirements of sloped curb in
the turn around since the rest of the street had not been con—
structed with curbing. The Superintendent indicated the granite
sloped curbing in the turn around would be beneficial to the
Town and prevented damage to the tree lawn during the plowing '
and snow removal season. It was the sense of the Board that
the extension of Countryside Lane may be approved if it is in
keeping with the requirements of the Board of Survey Rules
and Regulations.
The meeting adjourned at 9:40 P. M.
Repaqtfully su itted,
Secretary
