HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-07-15 Board of Survey Minutes July 15, 1974 Meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 7:45 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman Blood, Board Members Dustin, Price and Russell and Superintendent Louanis. Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as amended. Read letter from Charles B. Wills and Company requesting final release of the performance bond in the amount of $6,500.00. It was moved, seconded and voted to release $1 ,850.00 and re- tain $4,650.00 of the performance bond on Long Meadow Subdivi- sion off Pearl Street. Read letter from Charles H. Stamatis requesting release of the bond on Belmont Street. Since the work in this sub- division is not complete it was moved, seconded and voted to retain the $1 ,000.00 bond thereby denying the request. The Board adjourned temporarily at 8: 15 P.M. to meet as ' the Board of Public Works and reconvened at 9:30 P.M. Mr. Eric Nitsche, representing the firm of Anderson Engin- eering, Inc. , appeared before the Board in behalf of the Devel- oper of Terrace Park. Slope easements had not been obtained. Following a discussion it was moved, seconded and voted that if proper construction slope easements could not be obtained from the abutting property owners (Eugene Buzderewicz and George B. Perry, II ) a retaining wall may be constructed within the right-of-way not occupying more than two feet into the right-of-way. The bituminous concrete sidewalk shall be con- structed where the retaining wall is required from the face of the retaining wall to the edge of the traveled way. Granite sloped curbing will be required along the entire length of the street from the radius granite curbing at the intersection of Franklin Street. However, if the Developer is able to obtain the necessary construction easements he has the option to build in accordance with the present Board of Survey Rules and Regulations for typical streets cross section. The Board adjourned temporarily at 9:30 P.M. reconvening at 10. 10 P.M. , The Board reviewed further the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Survey. It was moved, seconded and voted that the Superintendent be instructed to compile the Board of Survey Rules and Regulations as having been reviewed and amended by the last Board of Survey meeting and prepare copies for Town Counsel for his approval and comments.
