' Meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 8:00 P.M. in
Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Blood, Secretary Reed, Board Members
Dustin, Price and Russell and Superintendent Louanis. !,
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read. j
Secretary Reed read notice of Final Hearing on Francis Drive.
The Developer was represented by Mr. David Mattheis of Dana Per-
kins, Inc. , who presented the plans of the proposed subdivision {
and explained the layout of the drainage and sewerage design.
Mr . Blood presented the list of questions unanswered since the
Preliminary Hearing many of which were not answered to the sat- 1
isfaction of the Board. The meeting was then opened to general j
questioning by those in attendance. Several questions were posed
regarding filling and grading. The main interest appeared to
center around the problem of drainage. It was revealed by the
' Superintendent that the drainage easement across the Boltier
and Jerrior property had not been consummated by the Town of
Reading. The Developer has no right to use the easement with-
out obtaining permission from the property owners and a sewer
easement will have to be obtained by the Developers in favor of
the Town before the subdivision can be approved. Mr. Spence of li
Bunker Avenue was considerably concerned over what will happen
I
to the water level in the pond once the land is filled. Mr .
Mattheis stated the plan was developed so that the lot would
drain north onto other property. Considerable discussion devel-
oped about the safety of the proposed street entrance onto
Charles Street because of its proximity to the intersection of
Pearl , Harrison and Belmont Streets. It was moved, seconded
and voted to take the plans under advisement and to close the
Hearing.
The Board adjourned at 10:00 P .M. to meet as the Board of
' Public Works and reconvened at 10:35 P.M.
Dana Realty, Inc. has requested a partial bond release
on Beaver Road and Hodson Lane. The Superintendent reported
that work to be done on Hodson Lane exceeds the amount of the
bond by a small amount. An estimate has been made for the re- '
maining work on Beaver Road in the amount of $18,000.00. It
was moved, seconded and voted that the Board of Survey reduce
the bond on Beaver Road by $10,000.00 leaving $18,000.00 in
force and deny the request to reduce the bond on Hodson Lane.
The Superintendent reported that the Developer, Charles
Stamatis, had provided a bond for the remainder of the work on
Chequessett Road and requested a release of several lots. It
was moved, seconded and voted to release lots 7-8-9-10-32-33-
and 34 and the Board signed the Plan.
Meeting adjourned at 10:50 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
