' Meeting of the Board of Survey opened at 8: 30 P.M. in
Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman White, Board Members Hodgkins
and Watt and Superintendent Louanis .
Preliminary hearing was held regarding the approval ,
disapproval or modification of the lines and grades of the streets
of "BRIARWOOD" as shown on plans by Dana F. Perkins & Sons, Inc.
David Matthes and Fred Dewsnap of Dana Perkins & Sons, i,
Inc. and Messrs. Sweezey and Pottle attended the hearing. Mr .
Matthes explained the plan. It was explained that a hearing had
been held some years ago when the property was owned by Edward
Small . Sewer will be included in the present layout. Mr. Watt
' questioned the cellar elevations on Partridge Road. Drainage is
essential .
According to the Superintendent, the Development has
a drainage ditch going across the Tennessee Valley Gas property.
Written approval should be obtained from the Tennessee Valley Gas
Company. Mr . Dewsnap raised the question of changing the number
of a house on Beaver Road to Partridge Road. This can be accom-
plished in due course.
Mr. Hodgkins moved, Mr . Watt seconded and it was voted to
approve the plan with modifications as discussed.
The Board discussed revision of the Board of Survey Rules
and Regulations . Suggested were curbing instead of Bituminous Con-
crete sidewalks , acceptance of Private Ways as Public Ways,covering
of drainage ditches, fences installed by Developer or resident,and

does the Town have a legal responsibility if a child falls into '
a ditch.
Mr. Watt was of the opinion that Town Counsel should
give the Board a reading on the Town ' s legal responsibility or
liability; also, how the Board should write the Board of Survey
Rules and Regulations. Mr. Watt was of the opinion that a
chain link fence would be proper and the abuttor should maintain
it.
Meeting adjourned at 9: 15 P.M.
