Board - Committee - Commission - Council: 2019 JUL Climate Advisory Committee Date: 2017-03-08 Time: 7:00 PM Building: Reading Town Hall Location: Berger Room Address: 16 Lowell Street Purpose: Bi-monthly meeting Attendees: Members - Present: David Zeek, chair; Ray Porter, secretary; Laurie Ann Sylvia, member; Ron D'Addario, member; Jeff Everson, associate member; Gina Snyder, associate member; Gretchen Latowsky, member; Members - Not Present: Ron D'Addario, member (arrived later) Others Present: Celeste Krake, Guest Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Ray Porter Topics of Discussion: Welcome to Members and Guests Celeste Krake, Guest - Heard about committee from Town Website. Review minutes, vote on acceptance Meeting minutes from 2/22/2017 approved, as amended. Ongoing Business: • Earth Day Planning- Location (Saturday, April 22) • Doyans and Home Depot have agreed to attend. • ChargePoint cannot attend, but is willing drop off a demonstration unit. Maybe they could leave brocures. • Home installers (electrician) for home charging units for electric cars. • Ray has about 10 vendors to follow-up with as to their interest in participating. • Jeff to contact the Crystal Garden Club. • Jeff reaching out to Nutonomy and Cptimusrides. • Gina to follow-up with town committees. Gina does not have a contact for the Reading Garden Club • Ron to follow-up with electric car dealers. An updated list of dealers who are participating was distributed. • Gina to follow-up with town committees. Jeff sent a name of a person to contact for the Reading Garden Club. • List of questions for students to use on Earth Day. • Need to begin our marketing and outreach. Already sent out to Town of Reading committees. Ron to contact newspapers. RCN upload has been done. John Feudo to put it out over Town Recreation mailing list [Dave] • Handouts for educational material from Audubon and EPA [Gretchen]. Page 1 aaao Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes • Presentation to the Board of Selectmen (April 11) • Dave to update the previous presentation to include our recent actions. • City/Town requirements from DPW of access to streets for gas line repairs. • Presentations and book reviews • Mention plastic bag ban. • Use/Ban of Plastic Bags (April 24) • Dave did not find a sample instructional motion to prepare a draft text. (Dave/Ron) • Does not need to go into the warrant. Town meeting starts on April 24. • Need input from Bob L. on how it might be supported. • Food Waste Ban • Nothing new. • Facebook /Website • Updated gmail list for the "read!ngcli matecomm ittee" which includes all committee members. • Need to identify items to populate the site. • Material to go into Google Docs • Events can be listed and shared by us through our individual Facebook pages. • Bike Swap (May 5/6) • Insurance certificate from the Town has been initiated. • One of the RCAC members should attend the Bike Swap event (Ray). • Laurie Ann to submit the application to RMLD. • Status of SREC and Tariff Program • Need to investigate the ending of the SREC program and implementation of the Tariff program. • Need to determine the role for Municipal Utilities. • Action Items for RCAC (items carried forward) • Revisit the Energy Services Company (ESCo) - to understand the progress on the energy efficiency and reductions. Find who (Joe Huggins (781-942-5492)) in Reading is tracking this. - Ray • Reading Library home energy focus for future home tours. - Gretchen & Ron • Reinvent our Green Award program (Green Business and Green Leader). - Laurie Ann & Ron.
