79-81 Salem Street
The owner has not yet followed up with JEB to sign letter of agreement.
Postmark Square
A metal safe was found during excavation. It is very heavy with no lock or hinges.
Tom Connery plans to try to open it.
186 Summer Avenue
The owner has an electrical permit as of January 2019. No signs of construction.
20-24 Gould Street
There has been no contact from the developer about meeting to discuss exhibit
design.

24 Grove Street
One interested person, after the publication of the article about the property in the
Chronicle, followed up with owner Jim Lorden. The house is now for sale through a
realtor.
New Residents Open House
April 30th, 5:30-7:30 at the Reading Public Library. RHC will have a table.
Garden Club Plant Sale
Plant sale is May 18th on the town green. We will use the display materials from
last year. JW suggested reproducing 6 individual maps, and later a composite on
cloth or something durable for outdoor display.
Motion by SRS, seconded by RW
"Allow JW to spend up to $750.00 to reproduce 1918 Sanborn maps."
Vote: 5-0 in favor.
Preservation Grant
On March 25th, Becky Geller from the Northeast Document Conservation Center
gave a presentation at the Reading Public Library for the grant recipients on general
preservation measures. She spent the 26th-28th looking at the 4 collections that
are part of the grant.
Department of Public Works Garage
VA and SC met Chris Cole from the DPW to look at RHC items in the garage attic.
They located 9 boxes of records from the Pierce Organ Company. The boxes were
once inventoried, VA and SC will try to locate the inventory in the RHC records.

SC will schedule times to meet in the archive to organize material, computer files,
and draft collection policies.
' Finances
VA sold a copy of'Colonial Rooftrees', gave $7.50 to JW.
375th Celebration
There was discussion of selling/giving away some of our pamphlets at the 375th,
including booklets from the 350th celebration.
New Business
Massachusetts Historical Commission is giving historic preservation planning
workshops at the end of April and beginning of May.
If this House Could Talk
Five houses on Azalea Street, including VA's, will be part of the tour. There will be a
map available online of participating homes in Reading.
Next Meeting will be May 8th at 7pm.
