Killam Elementary School was held in the confer- ence room of the Killam Elementary School on May 6, 2019. Call to order: A quorum of members being present and the meeting having been duly convened at Killam School by the Killam Principal, Sarah Leveque had called the meeting to order at 3:00 and proceeded with business. Review and Acceptance of Minutes: Members reviewed draft minutes from the April meeting. There being no further discussion, Ms. Leveque moved that the minutes for the month be accepted as drafted. Mr. Marrangoni seconded the motion. The members then voted unan- imously to approve the minutes. Vote: Minutes Accepted 5-0-0 Page I i � r of Reading sting Minutes Review of Committee Responsibilities: School Improvement Plan and WASH Allergy Guidelines - No Updates New Business, Committee Focus Areas: Attendance Issues (Finish in the Summer for Fall) We will continue working on this as we finish the year and launch the new school year. There are no updates. Safety- No updates. Student Motivation Tonia McGuire reviewed current articles for staff and families that discuss ways to increase student motivation. Social-Emotional Kate Splaine presented the social-emotional framework, resources for parents, and a video that could be shared to discuss how we can frame social-emotional work in a positive man- ner. The committee briefly reviewed the research with the intention of reading it more thor- oughly outside of the meeting. The committee also discussed how over the summer, a more comprehensive approach to sharing information with families regarding student motivation and social-emotional work will ensue. Adjournment There being no further business, the School Council adjourned at 4:00 with plans to recon- vene on June 3, 2019 at 3:00 pm for the final meeting of the year.
