MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OPENED AT
7:30 P.M. IN ROOM 16, MUNICIPAL BUILDING.
iPRESENT WERE CHAIRMAN FLORENCE, SECRETARY WHITE,
BOARD MEMBERS COCHRANE AND HODGKINS AND SUPERINTENDENT

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING READ AND APPROVED.
READ LETTER FROM READING HOUSING AUTHORITY RE-
QUESTING THAT THE NEW EXTENSION TO FRANK D. TANNER DRIVE

GOING THROUGH THE NEW PROJECT #667-2 OF THE HOUSING FOR
THE ELDERLY BE ACCEPTED BY THE TOWN OF READING. ACCORDING
TO THE SUPERINTENDENT, THE STREET HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED
BY THE CONTRACTOR AND IT WOULD APPEAR UNWISE TO ACCEPT THE
STREET UNTIL ALL THE WORK IS COMPLETED; ALSO, HE WAS OF
I
THE OPINION THAT THE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT COMPLETE THE
NECESSARY WORK IN TIME FOR THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING.
MR. HODGKINS MOVED, IT WAS SECONDED AND VOTED
THAT THE READING HOUSING AUTHORITY BE ADVISED THAT THE
BOARD IS WILLING TO PROCEED WITH THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE
STREET UPON COMPLETION BY THE CONTRACTOR AND PREPARATION
� OF THE NECESSARY PLANS BY THE DEPARTMENT AT A SPECIAL OR
OTHER TOWN MEETING.
THE BOARD ADJOURNED TEMPORARILY AT 7:45 P.M. TO
MEET AS THE BOARD OF SURVEY.
THE BOARD RECONVENED AT 8:18 P.M.
THE SUPERINTENDENT PRESENTED A REQUEST FROM ,
RONALD E. ROSE, OWNER OF LOTS A AND B LAKEVIEW AVENUE,
REQUESTING PERMISSION TO PUT IN A DRAIN AND TIE INTO THE
STORMJnAIN IN JOHN STREET. THE BOARD DISCUSSED THE RE-
QUEST AND CONDITIONS RELATING THERETO. MR. WHITE MOVED
THAT THE REQUEST OF MR. ROSE TO DRAIN HIS CELLARS IN2O
THE STORM DRAIN BE DENIED UNTIL SUCH TIME AS HIS SEWERAGE
IS TAKEN CARE OF BY SANITARY SEWER RATHER THAN SEPTIC
TANKS; PIR. COCHRANE SECONDED AND IT WAS VOTED.
THE BOARD SIGNED BILLROLL DATED JANUARY 9 AND
PAYROLL FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 5 THROUGH JANUARY II.
IT WAS MOVED, SECONDED AND VOTED TO CONTINUE ,
THE MEETING IN EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS PERSONNEL
CLASSIFICATIONS.
