Florence, Superintendent Louanis, Robert Norton of Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. and Brian Dougherty of Combustion Engineer- ing, Inc. met at the Incinerator site and viewed the progress of the construction. Messrs . Florence and Louanis returned to the Town Building. Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P .M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Secretary Florence, Board Member Watt and Superintendent Louanis . Mr . Florence assumed the Chair in the absence of Mr . White and it was agreed that the reading of the Minutes be postponed to a future meeting. ' Read letter from The First Congregational Church re- questing permission to close Sanborn Street from Woburn Street to Lowell Street on Saturday, September 18, from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. It was moved, seconded and voted subject to concurrence by a third member that permission be granted. Read letter from Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. regarding a pro- posed change order to be made in the guide system and scale pit of the Municipal Incinerator, at a cost of $1 , 117.00. It was moved, seconded and voted subject to concurrence by a third member that the change order be approved. Read letter from Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. regarding addi- tional resident engineering time required to insure the orderly processing and completion of the work on the Municipal Incinera- tor, at a cost of $4,500.00. The Superintendent was instructed , to obtain further information regarding this matter from Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. Read Resident 's Weekly Report on the progress of the Municipal Incinerator . It was accepted as a point of informa- tion. Public Hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. regarding the petition of the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company to lay buried cable in the following location: CHARLES STREET Northeasterly from existing pole and EVERGREEN 13/39 located Charles Street north- ROAD: westerly side, extending north- westerly into the southwesterly side of Evergreen Road to existing pole 103/6, approximately two hundred and , thirty (230) feet of buried cable George Cooley represented the Telephone Company. The Board took no action. The Board adjourned temporarily at 8: 15 P.M. to meet as the Board of Survey. The Board reconvened at 8:30 P.M. Read petition from New England Telephone & Telegraph Company and the Reading Municipal Light Department requesting per- mission to relocate Pole 83/9A located on the northeast side of Border Road. It was moved, seconded and voted subject to con- currence by a third member that permission be granted. Read letters from the State Department of Public Works ' regarding the Chapter 90 Construction and Maintenance Funds for ' 1971 , to be funded as follows: Town of State County Reading Construction $20,800 $10,400 $10,400 Maintenance 2,000 2,000 2,000 It was accepted as a point of information. Signed Order of Taking of Slope Easements on Haverhill Street. Read letter from District Highway Engineer, Charles F. Mistretta, regarding a new highway network program known as Urban Systems, and inviting the representatives of the Town of Reading to attend a meeting on July 28, 1971 at 10:00 A.M.
