HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-06-25 Board of Public Works Minutes MINUTES June 25, 1973 Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7: 15 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present: Chairman Blood, Secretary White, Board Members Reed, Russell , Dustin and Superintendent Louanis. The Board met with Mr . James Walker of Whitman & Howard. It was moved, seconded and voted that the contract for architectural and engineering services at the Town Garage be awarded to Whitman & Howard, in accordance with their letter of June 20, 1973 on a per diem basis with an up-set limit not to exceed $8,200.00. 7:45 P.M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Payroll was signed for the period ending June 24, 1973; billroll was signed dated June 29, 1973• Read letter from Bruce Campbell , Commissioner, State Department of Public Works regarding state aid for highways. The Superintendent was instructed to obtain clarification from the State as to what ' precisely they mean, and report back to the Board. The Board adjourned temporarily at 8:00 P.M. to meet as the Board of Survey, and reconvened at 8:30 P.M. The Board reviewed a proposed press briefing - Reading Combusto/pak - submitted by Combustion Engineering. It was moved, seconded and voted to accept the proposal with the following exceptions: 1 . We have no intention of repainting the Combusto/pak and air cleaning units. 2. The B.P.W. will have to delegate some of its paid employees to attend the function. 3. The Town would be willing to supply the personnel to clean up the area, but it will have to be at Combustion Engineering' s expense. It was moved, seconded and voted to award the contract for roadway and on Audubon Rpa� sidewalk construction /to the low bt er, E. B. Rotondi & Sons, Winchester, Mass. , subject to their ability to provide the proper performance bonds. ' The Board reviewed two (2) pole relocation petitions submitted by the Municipal Light Department. It was moved, seconded and voted to temporarily withhold permission contingent upon proper repair of the diagonal cross—patch on West Street. The Superintendent was instructed to so inform the Municipal Light Company. The Board went into Executive Session at 9:00 P.M. ' Respectfully submitted Se etaty it I i i f
