HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-05-07 Board of Public Works Minutes MINUTES May 7. 1973 ' Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held at 7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present: Chairman Blood, Secretary White, Board Members, Reed and Russell , and Superintendent Louanis. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted with corrections. Billroll was signed May 11 , 1973; Payroll was signed for the period ending April 29, 1973. 7:45 P.M. Read note from Superintendent regarding Mr. Ciraso's pro— posed visit before the Board representing Mass. Broken Stone relative to the Bituminous bids submitted by his company. Mr. Ciraso did not appear. 7:45 P.M. Read petition from some of the residents of Maple Ridge Road re: Drainage from Oak Ridge Road. It was moved, seconded and voted to notify Robert A. Bonomi , 67 Maple Ridge Road, that upon ' obtaining a no—cost easement from the owners of lots 202 and 203 on Maple Ridge Road, and pending availability of funds, during the 1974 construction season we will construct a conduit from the end of Oak Ridge Road to Maple Ridge Road. Read letter from General Tire and Rubber Co. re: Change name of Goodall—Sanford Road to General Street. It was moved, seconded, and voted to schedule a hearing to legally change the name. Read note from the Superintendent regarding sewer bids. It was moved, seconded and voted to award the bid to Bertoldi , Inc. , sub— ject to his ability to obtain the proper performance bonds in the net value of the contract within seven days. The Superintendent was instructed to so notify Antonio Federico, President of Bertoldi , Inc. The Board adjourned temporarily at 8:05 P.M. to meet as the Board of Survey, and reconvened at 8: 35 P.M. ' 8:35 P.M. Secretary White read notice of Hearing on Sewer Main Extension on Spruce Rd. Sewer frontage assessment sheets were given 5/7/73 —(2) to the abuttors present, and they voted in favor of the sewer main ' extension, brought about by the sanitary emergency situation at the corner of Spruce and Twin Oaks Roads. It was moved, seconded and voted to install the sewer main extension. 9: 10 P.M. Read note from Superintendent regarding bids for water meters. It was moved, seconded, and voted that the bid be awarded to Rockwell as follows: 5/8" Meter 31 .75 X 40 = $1 ,270.00 5/8" Meter/Remote 41 .75 X 200 = 8, 350.00 3/4" Meter 45.69 X 10 = 456.90 10,07 Z.90 Read letter to James Fandel , Personnel Board regarding promotions created by resignations and new classifications formed in the recently negotiated contract.
