March 5, 1973
' Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened in Room 16, Municipal
Building at 7: 30 P.M.
Present: Messrs . White, Blood, Reed, Russell , Dustin, and Louanis.
Reorganization of the Board resulted in the following appointments
for 1973-74:
Superintendent and Clerk of the Board: E. Roger Louanis
Chairman : Lawrence R. Blood
Secretary : Nathan C. White
School Building Committee : Malcolm E. Reed
School Site Committee : Malcolm E . Reed
Planning Board, Master Study Plan : John H. Russell
Industrial Committee : Open
Recreation Committee : Paul C. Dustin
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved with
' correction.
Billroll was signed dated March 9, 1973.
Payroll was signed for the period ending March 4, 1973•
Read note from Superintendent relative to proposed meeting with
Wakefield concerning the possibility of disposing of rubbish in
the Municipal Incinerator . Motion was made, seconded and voted,
that Reading offer to sign a contract with Wakefield of $201 ,000.00
for the first 15 months, with additional charges for tonnage over
13,000 tons at the rate of $16.50 per ton with the agreement that
they remove an equivalent amount of ash to the rubbish given
Reading to dispose of, and the the Reading Board of Public Works
can negotiate the per ton basis above 13,000 tons, but not go below
$15. 50 per ton; said contract to stipulate that Wakefield must
give Reading four (4) weeks notice prior to commencing operation.
Motions for the Town Meeting were assigned, and Articles 36, 37,
' and 38 indefinitely postponed.
Read letter from supervisory and non-union personnel . It was
accepted as a point of information, and the Superintendent was
requested to acknowledge its receipt.

It was moved, seconded and /install sewer in Track Road, and to
inform the residents that they were not billed for the sewer
installation on the street assessment, and that the assessment for '
the sewer main extension will be at the current rate.
Meeting adjourned at 10:45 P.M.
