February 26, 1973
Meeting of the Board of Public Works convened in the Auditorium of
' the Community Center, 52 Sanborn Street, Reading, Mass. at 8:00 P.M.
Present: Chairman White, Board Members Blood, Reed, and Florence, and
Superintendent Louanis.
Public Hearing was held at that time regarding the proposed extension
of the main trunk sanitary sewer in the following streets, and with
approximately 65 people attending the Hearing, votes are hereby recorded:

Members of the Engineering Division remained at the close of the formal
hearing to answer technical questions, and the Board adjourned, to re-
convene in Room 16, Municipal Building at 8:40 P.M. , at which time it
was moved, seconded, and voted that the entire sewer program with the
exception of the last three (3) houses on Bay State Road be accepted,
and excluding Track Road until clarification can be obtained.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted with correction.
Billroll was signed dated February 23, 1973.
Payroll was signed for the period ending February 1?, 1973. -
The Board moved that Jerome Cagnina's water bill (21 Hanscom Avenue, )
be reviewed next billing period for any deviation from previous readings,
and to so inform him if there has been any significant change.
Read note from Superintendent regarding duty specifications in connection
with Combustion Engineering's letter dated January 19, 1973. It was
moved, seconded and voted that the Board approve an expenditure of up to
$6,000.00 for the following, and that the engineer assigned by Combustion
Engineering would be responsible for the development of said items:
1 . Job description and areas of responsibility of the employees at,
the Municipal Incinerator.
2. System of Inventory Control ,
3. Inspection list and confirmation report.
4. System of scheduled shutdowns and inspections.
5. Lubrication schedule and records.
6. Operating instructions.
7. Calibration of recorders and damper controllers.
8. Accumulation of reference material for all equipment.
Read note from Superintendent regarding the proposed meeting with the '
Town of Wake:'ie:d to discuss disposal of their rubbish. It was
moved, seconded and so voted that the Board request the Board of
Assessors to write to the Department of Corporations and Taxation
to obtain approval to anticipate a revenue from funds to be earned from
incinerator charges to off—set the tax levy. Discussion to be con—
tinued after sewer hearing Wednesday, February 28, 1973 in an
effort to resolve the matter before the proposed meeting.
The Board met with the Conservation Commission at 9:40 P.M. It
was the Commission 's aim to bring the Board up—to—date on their
aims and ideas before Annual Town Meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 10:20 P.M.
