HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-02-05 Board of Public Works Minutes MINUTES February 5, 1973 ' Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P .M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present: Chairman White, Board Member Blood, and Superintendent Louanis . Due to . lack of a quorum, no business was transacted, and the Board adjourned temporarily to reconvene at the Community Center at 8:00 P.M. , at which time Mr . Reed joined the meeting. Mr. Blood, acting as Secretary, read Notice of Public Hearing for the following streets: Breton Circle, Collins Avenue, Brewer Lane, Colonial Drive, and Dana Road. The Chairman opened the Hearing with a general resume of the procedure for acceptance of streets under the Betterment Act, and the Board then proceded to accept questions from the floor . Many were answered by the Chairman and the Board, and the residents were requested to in- dicate their preference for acceptance of the streets. Results: Street In Favor Opposed Non-Commital Breton Circle 3 2 Collins Avenue 3 1 - Brewer Lane 3 - - Colonial Drive 8 - - Dana Road 1 -The Chairman declared the formal hearing over at 8: 50 P.M. The Board reconvened at the Municipal Building at 9:00 P.M. Read letter from Combustion Engineering re: Acceptance of the Air Pollution Test, and accepted it as a point of information. Read note from the Superintendent regarding Mr. Cagnina's high water bill . It was moved, seconded and voted that evidence indicated that the bill was correct and must be paid. The Superintendent was in- structed to write a letter to Mr. Cagnina informing him of the Board ' s decision. ' Read proposed letter to the Reading Chronicle regarding Rubbish Collection. Letter was taken under advisement for further study. The Board adjourned temporarily to meet as the Board of Survey at 9:20 P.M. and reconvened at 9:30 P.M. ' The Board went into Executive Session to discuss Personnel Problems and met with members of the Personnel Board, and discussed the salary part of the Budget for 1973-74. Billroll was signed dated February 9, 1973• Payroll was signed for the period ending January 28, 1973• Meeting adjourned at 10:45 P.M. due to lack of a quorum. Respectfully submitted a Secretary
