HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-11-20 Board of Public Works Minutes - November 20, 1972 Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:40 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building. Present were Chairman White, Secretary Watt, Board Members Blood and Reed and Superintendent Louanis. - Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Read Mr . Van Magness' letter regarding ground water run off from his property at 243 Franklin Street. A discussion followed. The Board felt that the condition of the travelled way would be considerably improved if the existing drainage system was, extended approximately 200 feet. Mr . Watt moved, Mr . Reed ' seconded and it was voted to extend the system in an effort to eliminate the existing problem and the Superintendent was in- structed to schedule this project within the next budget period. Read letter from Mrs. Fred Ward of 32 Thorndike Street regarding drainage problem at . the corner of Thorndike and Orange Streets. The Superintendent was directed to write to Mrs. Ward advising her when funds were available we would undertake some drainage work in this area. Read letter from Mr . Hurford regarding drainage problems in Hemlock Estates. The Board ruled that since this is a develop- ment we cannot exercise any control . The Superintendent was in- structed to forward the letter to Mrs. Anderson of the Conservation Committee. ' The Board reviewed the bids for Cast Iron Pipe and Fittings. Mr . Blood moved Mr . Watt seconded and it was voted to award the bid to the low bidder, Conron, Inc. Read note from Superintendent concerning schedule of Board Meetings in the near future. It was agreed that the Board would meet as follows : November 27, December 11 and 18 and January 8, 1973. Read copy of letter. from Superintendent to Mr . Fandel. of the Personnel Board. Mr . Hall hasbeen promoted to the posi - tion of Sanitary Division Engineer . . Board signed the Bill Roll for the period ending November 24 and the Payroll for the period from November 13 thru November 19. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
