Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M.
in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Blood, Secretary Reed, Board Mem-
bers Dustin, Price and Russell and Superintendent Louanis.
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read.
A report on the Hearing held on Wednesday, June 12, 1974
at Cambridge with the County Commissioners with regard to Hopkins
Street was given to the Board.
The Superintendent reported to the Board on his meeting
with Conservation Commission Chairman. A lengthy discussion
ensued. The Superintendent was directed to contact the Chair-
man of the Conservation Commission and give her an estimate of
the cost of labor to complete the work on the property off
Pearl Street and request that she attend a meeting of the
Finance Committee in an effort to secure funds to cover such
costs.
Mr. Blood stepped down and Mr. Reed assumed the Chair.
Mr. Russell read notice of Public Hearing regarding Peti-
tion of the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company to lay
and maintain underground conduits and manholes with wire and
cables under Linden, Woburn, Lowell and Salem Streets. Mr.
George Cooley represented the New England Telephone and Tele-
graph Company, and explained that 975' 6f conduit and two man-
holes would be installed - all in the sidewalk area. It is
anticipated that work would commence sometime during the middle
of July and would be complete by Labor Day. The Hearing was
closed. No action was taken at this time as the Board would

like to review the contract with regard to the restoration of
the Town 's streets and sidewalks.
Mr. Blood assumed the Chair.
Read letter from Curt Nitzsche requesting permission to
close Sanborn Street from Lowell to Woburn Street on Saturday,
September 14th from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. for the purpose of
holding the Olde Redding Fair for the First Congregational Church.
It Was moved, seconded and voted to grant permission subject J
to the following conditions: 1
1 . Proper liability insurance be obtained
2 . The area be policedand completely re- ,
turned to its original condition after ,
the event
3. No alcoholic beverages be allowed at the
site.
Read letter from Mrs. Donald Erickson requesting per-
mission to close Harriman Avenue on July 4, 1974 from 11 :00
A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for the purpose of holding a neighborhood
picnic. It was moved, seconded and voted to grant permission
subject to the standard rules as mentioned heretofore.
Read letter of application from Ralph Surianello Co. , Inc.
22 James Terrace, Woburn, Massachusetts outlining qualifications
and experience for the position of a Licensed Drain Layer. It
was moved, seconded and voted to approve Mr. Surianello as a
Licensed Drain Layer subject to his ability to furnish a proper
bond.
Read letter of application from Wilmington Excavation '
requesting approval as a Licensed Drain Layer. It was moved,
seconded and voted to deny the request at this time.
The Board signed the Payroll for the period ending June
16 and the Bill Roll dated June 21 , 1974.

2. Sidewalk at driveways be uniform in grade with
existing sidewalk.

on a 12" gravel base.
4. The proposed driveway entrance and exit photomat
will not be allowed.
The Board signed the Payroll for the period ending June
9 and the Bill Roll dated Junel4th.
