Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened in Room 16,
Municipal Building at 7:30 P. M.
Present were Chairman Russell , Board Members Blood, Price
and Botka, Superintendent Louanis and Assistant Superintendent
McIntire.
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as mailed.
The Board reviewed bids received on May 13, 1976 re: Appli-
cation of Bituminous Seal on Various Streets, as follows:
Bell and Flynn, Inc. $ 11 , 550
Able Bituminous Contractors, Inc. 11 ,655
Trimount Bituminous Products Co. 12,950
Following a brief discussion it was moved, seconded and voted
to award Contract 76-8 for Applying Bituminous Seal on Various
Streets to the low bidder, Bell and Flynn, Inc. in the amount
of $11 , 550 subject to their ability to furnish the proper per-
formance bond.
' Meeting adjourned temporarily in order that the members
meet as the Board of Survey and reconvened at 7:45 P. M.
Read Notice of Public Hearing regarding Petition of the
New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and Reading Munici-
pal Light Department for a pole location on the easterly side
of West Street. Mr . Blood abstained from the discussion. Mr.
Paul Carson represented the Municipal Light Department and ex-
plained the need of the pole was to service two houses under
construction on West Street and for guying purposes. It was
moved, seconded and voted the Hearing be closed. It was moved
and seconded to grant permission to the Municipal Light Depart-
ment and the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company to
place one pole on the easterly side of West Street as petitioned.
The vote: In favor, Mr. Price, Mr . Botka and Chairman Russell
- Mr . Blood abstained.
' The Board signed the Bill Roll dated May 28 and the Pay
Roll for the period ending May 23, 1976.
Mr. Russell appointed Mr. Price Acting Chairman for the
remainder of the evening and departed to attend Town Meeting.
Mr. Price read Notice of Public Hearing at 8:00 P. M. re—
lative to lead and lead lined water services. No one attended
the Hearing. The Hearing was closed. I
