' Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 9:00 P. M.
in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Board Members Blood, Botka, Dustin, Price and
Russell and Superintendent Louanis.
Mr. Louanis assumed the Chair for reorganization of the
Board. The Board Members voted by secret ballot. John H.
Russell was elected Chairman and Paul C. Dustin was elected
Secretary on the first ballot.
Mr. Russell assumed the Chair and it was voted unanimously
that E. Roger Louanis be appointed Superintendent and Clerk of
the Board of Public Works and the Board of Survey for a period
of one year.
Board Members were appointed to committees for the forth—
coming year, as follows:
School Building Committee Lawrence R. Blood
School Site Committee Lawrence R. Blood
Industrial Committee Alexander T. Botka
M.B.T.A. ad hoc Committee Paul Dustin
Growth and Development John H. Russell
Transportation Improvement 129 Lawrence R. Blood
Mr. Dustin will represent the Board at the April 26th meeting
of the Recreation Committee but requested another member volunteer
to serve on the Recreation Committee this year. It was agreed to
postpone an appointment to this committee until the next meeting
of the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as written.
Mr. Price retired from the meeting.
Read letters from DiMartino Brothers Company, Inc. , A.
DiChiara & Sons and Meuse Construction Company all requesting to
be accepted as Licensed Drain Layers for the Town of Reading.
Upon recommendation of the Superintendent it was moved, seconded
' and voted to approve the following as Licensed Drain Layers sub—
ject to their ability to furnish a proper bond and make payment
of the necessary fee:
DiMartino Brothers Co. , Inc. Westwood, Mass.
Meuse Construction Co. Reading, Mass.
Anthony DiChiara Saugus, Mass.
It was moved, seconded and voted that the Board sign the '
testimonial scroll in appreciation for twenty—nine years of
dedicated service by John F. Tormey, retired Assistant Superin—
tendent of the Board of Public Works.
The Board reviewed the Preliminary Report of the Sanitary
Landfill . Mr. Blood suggested the report be summarized and
copies be made for Town Meeting Members.
The Superintendent reviewed the mEps of the sanitary landfill
and made comments relative to flood plain and life expectancy of
the area. The Superintendent also stated that the Planning Board
and the Conservation Commission should be involved in the future
plans of the sanitary landfill .
The Board signed the Pay Roll for the period ending April
11th and the Bill Roll dated April 16, 1976.
The Board signed the Report of Laying Out as Public Ways ,
the following:
Twin Oaks Road Randall Road
Arrow Circle Norman Road
Johanna Drive
Motions to be presented at Town Meeting were assigned as
follows:
