Members - Not Present: Michelle Greenwalt, Annika Scanlon, Julie Joyce Others Present: Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Richele Shankland Topics of Discussion: I. Review minutes from the December 5, 2018,meeting. -Add a portion of a data sheet to the minutes to show work being done -Edit attendance for Audra Cashin. She was in attendance for the December 5,2018, meeting. -Audra Cashin made a motion to accept the December 5,2018,minutes with the above- mentioned changes and Lynda Michel seconded the motion. 2. Update on School Happenings -Winter concerts were excellent -Gr 7 attended A Christmas Carol on a field trip to Northshore Music Theatre -Interviews for gr 6 and 8 SS maternity leaves done before vacation and candidates sent to FIR for paperwork -Parker Service had a holiday party with the Tannerville residents -Select Chorus took a field trip to sing at the Senior Center -Parent visitation day on January 10(8:15-2:30) 3. Update progress on 2018-2019 SIP -Since we discussed the progress at the last meeting in detail,we focused the meeting on recommendations for revisions to the district wellness policy 4. Other Review of the Wellness Policy Middle School Allergy Guidelines- -Page 3: Revise/remove nut free and establish allergy aware,wipes used on hands and desks/tables if snacks in classroom. Page I I � OrA ° Town of Reading 7 = Meeting Minutes a,Je'I -Page 5: #1 Replace Provide with Ensure(bathrooms should be accessible for handwashing) -Page 5: Custodial Protocol *Replace allergen free tables with ALL tables -Page 5: Emergency Response Protocol *Include contact school nurse Student Nutrition and Physical Activity Policy -Page 1: #1 Change grades 8,9,11 to grades 6-8, 9, 11. -Page 4#II Taste tests of new entrees and surveys?? -Page 5: Top of page—The school district will make available a list of ideas for acceptable fundraising activities. This does not exist?? -Page 5 K—Celebrations (one per month??) Council discussed sharing the following concerns with PTO: Most fundraisers are food-based -Families with allergies don't participate in those fundraisers -What about increasing dues/straight donation fee instead of all of the smaller fimdraisers? -Ricki will share with PTO tonight.
