Updates on 2018-2019 SIP Review of things that we have been working on over the past couple of months that are benchmarks on the school improvement plan Pape I 1 -Building wide recognitions: Discussing at tomorrow's leadership team meeting and will implement a plan as of January(more information to follow) -Professional Development time with Adam Hickey on Inclusive Practices(Oct& Nov) -He is returning in March and will follow up on how implementation is going -Staff agreed on 4 inclusive practices to focus on building-wide: agenda, purpose, cueing the mid-point and re-verbalizing directions(instead of asking"Are there any questions?') -Teachers are playing around with other inclusive practices as well: 3 minute wrap up at the end of class to have students get organized and ready for transition, structured notes (ie 2/3 column notes) -Instructional Rounds: we've had two groups follow students for the day and reflect on inclusive practices, any other effective teaching practices and what it's like to be a student at Parker. Teachers complete a reflection sheet and share with the group at the end of the day. They also complete a survey in order to make adjustments to rounds based on feedback. -Math PD with Marian Small: Math teachers had all-day PD in November on differentiation to support teachers with the collapsing of levels. Marian Small focuses on how you can differentiate and provide different levels of entry through questioning strategies. She will return in the spring for an additional day to follow up on implementation. -Co-Teaching Workshop: Three teachers will participate in a co-teaching workshop (math/special education) in January. We have 2 co-taught math classes in grade 8 at this time. -Data Meetings: We are just finishing our first round of data meetings.Mrs. Shankland shared a sample data sheet and explained EWIS (Early Warning Indicator System)and SEL data. She discussed how the data was shared with specialists and foreign language teachers(presentation looks different for those teachers since they do not have all of the students). SEE SAMPLE BELOW. 4. Other -A parent commented about Mrs. Shankland clarifying a rumor with students.Mrs. Shankland confirmed that we have a pregnant 7t°grader at Parker, but the father of the baby is not a member of the Reading community (students were mistaken by saying it was a 10"grader at RMHS).
