New Business:
FY20 Budget Update:
Nothing new to report
Class Size Update:
Kindergarten enrollment forms are due December 7'h and will provide a better Idea of class
size projections for next year. Some discussion took place that at a recent School
Committee meeting, it was brought up that Wood End is over the class size
recommendations for K-2. Dr. King will provide clarification at the next School Council
meeting.
School Improvement Plan:
Jackie Pelusi brought up the possibility of School Council and Leadership Team members
attending a PTO meeting (discussed whether morning or night is better) to share data with
parents on Tier 2 and 3 supports currently being utilized to support students. The goal
would be to present what we have in place for tiered supports and answer questions from
families.
Members discussed ways to support teachers in implementing the school improvement plan.
Jane Roberts suggested some parent support to prepare materials for the AMC workshop
model for mathematics. There is a lot of preparation to put these materials together. Mrs.
Roberts will also bring this up at the teacher's next staff meeting to see what materials
teachers need, where they are in the process of preparing, and what help they could use as
far as copying/cutting. The School Council could organize an afternoon for parents to come
as a group to provide help In preparing these materials.
March Madness - School Council members should gather feedback on the classroom
observations, especially on timing (during MCAS) and also on structure (some teachers left
more complicated plans than others, which were challenging for parents to implement).
Members discussed that two parents per classroom was more helpful. Teachers will discuss
at the next staff meeting when teachers would like School Council to plan this event; may
possibly put together the plan at the upcoming January meeting to roll out at the end of
January/beginning of February.
Adjournment
There being no further business, the School Council adjourned at 3:40 p.m. with plans to
reconvene on January 7, 2019.
Respectfully Submitted,
Michelle Mini,
Recording Secretary
