Pursuant to a meeting legally posted,the meeting of December 4, 2018 convened at 6:00 P.M. in
the Berger Room, 16 Lowell Street,Reading Town Hall.
Present: Virginia Blodgett, Chairman
Ron Stortz,Vice Chairman
William Brown, Secretary

Review of Past Meetine Minutes
The Minutes of September 11, 2018 were reviewed and approved.
General Business
The Board welcomed the two new members Caitlin Salmon and Carl McFadden.
Jane explained to the Board both the Perpetual Care Fund and the Sale of Lots Fund. The PC
fund is the retirement fund so that when the last lot is sold,the fund will be used to maintain the

lots in conjunction with the contract the Board makes with the lot owner. The Board has sole
discretion as to the use interest without consent of Town Meeting.
The Sale of Lots Fund may be used but requires Town Meeting approval, and gains no interest.
A suggestion was made that the Board should consider a 90-10 split as to the present 70-30 to
build up the PC fund.
The Board reviewed the proposed new signage and will vote on them at the next meeting.
The Board voted 5-0 to approve repair of the entrance gate to Laurel Hill.
The Board discussed parking in Laurel Hill by the parents dropping off children at the daycare at
the Old South Church. The Town will reach out to the Church for cooperation with informing the
parents.
Sale of lots has been strong,mostly at Wood End;41 lots sold this year.
There have been 127 interments this year,this is about the average.
The Board briefly discussed long term development such as more urn lots and a scattering
garden.
Jane replied to Carl's inquiry about the building, saying that Facilities has made the building safe
and has installed new windows and replaced the overhead doors.
Jane also noted that the trailer is working out well,and that Mike Hannaford is looking into them
for his parks division.

2019.
