December 10,2015 Demolition Dela Hearing
Public Meeting called to order at 7:35 pm. CM notified those in attendance
Hearing for that 2 associate members would be acting as full member for the
Demolition purposes of this hearing.
Delay SRS read the public notice.
application CM gave a beef summary of the purpose of the hearing and the
on 268-262 process.
Main St RHC members were introduced;as were the owners.
Owner Presentation included a brief presentation by CL and JL then
owners. Current owners purchased property about 4 years ago and
due to the economy chose to put this project on hold until now. In
summary all felt it was not financially viable to keep the building and
proposed demolishing and replacing with a mixed used building?
However, they did offer to keep beehive oven somewhere as a focal
point.
JW gave an overview of the structure's historical and architectural
significance.
Several abutters spoke; some in support of improving the appearance
of the area; another was concerned about it being so close their
property, another appreciated trying to save some elements of the
structure and was concerned that the property has deteriorated so
much, and another resident voiced concern about losing another
historic structure.
During the RHC Comments — The appearance of the new structure
being very modem was questioned as to whether it was appropriate
for the area. RHC asked if there was a way to respect the past with a
new structure and the owner stated they would be willing to work with
the RHC. VA requested a site visit.
CM moved that the presented information is sufficient to make a final
determination on the requested demolition of the structure at 258
Main St and that the public hearing be closed. JW seconded Vote

detrimental to the Town under the purposes of this bylaw (7.2.1) and
