Sharing Experiences a. RED Rally: Event went very well, —300 people attended b. Another Swastika graffiti incident occurred at the high school on Friday, 10/26 c. Homophobic graffiti found Monday I. There is more information and a better timeline for this Incident ii. Town Manager and police issued a joint press release iii. Investigation is ongoing d. Members feel a regular cadence of activities would be advantageous so that we don't have to just appear reactive, rather than proactive 2. Student Liaison report: skipped, no students present at meeting 3. Police Readout: none 4. Reaction/Feedback from RED rally on 10/21 a. Gina reports it was successful in getting new contacts for RED b. The town was very accommodating and waived many permits, etc to allow the event to be planned swiftly c. HRAC lacks that ability to move fast 1. Members are frustrated that we couldn't move faster to help and participate 5. Kam moves to allow the chair or secretary to make decisions and speak on behalf of HRAC, when scheduling a meeting is impossible due to time constraints, on matters which reflect the spirit of the committee's purpose and any decisions will be Paye I 1 �° rx o i Town of Reading 6a r Meeting Minutes :o +s„M p discussed with the full committee, and added to the agenda of, the next open meeting. This motion to be reviewed annually as well as upon the occasion that either the chair or secretary roles are changed. a. Kyung seconds, 5 vote in favor, motion passes 6. Review and vote on past meeting minutes a. Heather moves to approve the September minutes, Josh seconds, 5 vote in favor, motion passes b. Kerr! moves to approve October 4 minutes, Dave seconds, 4 vote in favor, motion passes 7. Reviewed statement for Josh to read at SB meeting this same evening 8. MLK Planning a. Reading Community Band and METCO and Friends Choir are confirmed b. Josh moves to vote to make the theme"Raising Voices to Silence Hate” !. Elaine seconds, S vote in favor, motion passes c. Josh to reach out to RMHS Drama Club, Girl Scouts, and Karen K and the Jitterbugs to see if they are interested in participating d. Heather to post on HRAC Facebook page to gather volunteers e. Need outreach to gather additional photos of community events for the slideshow f. Heather to reach out to the band to confirm the Star Spangled Banner, We Shall Overcome, and one additional piece for their program 9.
