Call to Order: 6:32 by Tom Procoplo
Acceptance of October Minutes from October 17, 2016
Elder Services October Report(Admin): Presented and Accepted.
Financial October Report(Admin): Presented and accepted.
MVES Report(Jane Burns): Jane Burns presented several issues with the congregate meal
program at the Center. There have been problems with the caterer which Mystic Valley has
been working to resolve. Since mid-August the Kitchen Manager has been out on leave.
There have been problems with staffing and temporary managers. On a few occasions they
have been short meals, refused to offer seconds to guests and using excessive paper
products. A few of the volunteer staff has expressed concern. Jane Burns has addressed
these issues with Mystic Valley.
Old Business:
Thanksgiving Meal Delivery: Christopher's Restaurant has donated 35 meals. Volunteer
drivers are Sandy Shaffer, Margaret Havey, Jolyn Ek, Kevin Walsh, Brian Snell and Jane
Burns's daughter Jillian. Tom Procopio will fill-in if needed. Drivers are to meet at
Christopher's at 1:00 pm on November 23.
Needs Assessment Update: The contract has been finalized and approved. The Scope of
Work Includes 5 Key Informant Interviews, 1 Focus Group, 2 Community Forums and a

comparison to other communities. The Focus Group and Community Forums will start in
March. The project to date is fully funded by the Town.
New Business:
Christmas Meal Delivery: Volunteers to deliver meals Christmas Eve are Tom Procopio,
Sandy Shaffer, John Parsons, Jolyn Ek and Lillian Burns. The drivers will meet at Market
Basket at 11:00 am.
COA Member Update: Steve Oston has resigned from the COA. Pocja Parsons will not be
taking on a full position at this time. She would like to remain as an associate member.
Kevin Walsh has been discussing with Jane Burns the possibility of resigning or becoming an
associate member. He has been unable to attend meetings throughout the year and does
not anticipate being able to attend in 2017.
A motion was made by Tom Procopio to move Kevin Walsh from a full member of the COA
to an associate member until such time that he can resume full responsibilities and there is
an opening. Seconded by Sally Hoyt. After further discussion, all in favor.
With Steve Ostons departure from the COA there is an opening for Vice Chair. A motion
was made by Jolyn Ek to nominate Tom Procopio as Vice Chair. Seconded by John Parsons.
All in favor.
Upcoming Events: State Legislators Thanksgiving Luncheon is November 19 at Hillview
Country Club. Christmas Eve Brunch will be on December 23 due to Christmas Eve being on
a Saturday. The Center will be closing at noon on December 23 and will be closed all day
on December 26.
COA members agreed to bring refreshments to the next meeting for a holiday party.
