Sharing Experiences/public Input (7pm) a. Discuss the "it's ok to be" signs that were put up around town, the"it's ok to be white"versions with potential white supremacy affiliation were removed by police, reportedly b. Mattress vandalism on police blotter 7/3 discussed c. Will follow up with Deputy Chief Clark to confirm whether these incidents would be reported to HRAC d. Discussion on newly noticed prevalence of books on Hitler and "the dumbing down of America" 2. Updates from members reaching out to town groups for interest in Anti-Semitic show ofsupport a. Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Rec Dept, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Club were contacted b. Rotary Club has invited us to speak at a meeting;Chamber of Commerce is taking the request back to their board' c. Committee will brainstorm on more groups to reach out to 3. Brainstorming activity with the group on potential options to pursue-We need to commit to an activityl a. Upstander Training b. Community Book Reading followed by a discussion c. Potentially we could reach out to: History Dept, Honor Society, Heather Lombardo(Teacher who sponsored Bill Russell project), Religious Youth groups, Diversion programs through RCASA d. Video/movie showing e. Walk/march/candlelight vigil from library to town common f. Speakers g. Multicultural Food Day i. Food trucks? h. Reach out to new HS principal i. Do so through Elaine 4. Fall Street Faire planning a. Motion to participate in the 2018 Fall Street Faire and purchase supplies for kid activities i. Heather moves, Susan 2nds, 4 in favor, motion passes b. Heather to reach out to Linda re: activity c. Committee to research other"easy" paper/marker activities S. Brainstorm ideas for getting involved in Reading's 375' celebration a. Susan to connect with Reading 365 committee 6. Any additional agenda items as come up 7. Review of upcoming action plans and establish date of next meeting a. Next meeting date will be 9/6 (usual first Thursday) 8. Vote on approval of minutes from past meetings if possible a. Motion to approve minutes from July 5, 2018 i.
