Reading Town Forest Committee

Guests: Chris Bourne and Michael Borque representing Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops
Call to Order
The meeting opened at 7:00 PM.
Old/New Business
o Public presentation of Town Forest Natural Resource Inventory and Conservation Vision
Report
❑ Meeting was well attended.No members of the BOS were present
❑ There was interest with the public in maintaining an ongoing dialog with TFC
❑ Need to make sure meeting notices are on the Town Web site
o Discussed the need to finalize report
o Report should include a summary with conclusions and recommendations
o Reviewed and prioritized recommendations
❑ Recommendations were presented and discussed
❑ Recommendations were grouped based on categories
Committee Priorities for the Coming Year
Using the recommendations included in the Natural resource Inventory and Conservation Vision
as a guide the Committee endorsed the following activities as a work plan for the coming year.
The Committee will also continue to develop strategies to implement tecommendations of the
Forestry Stewardship Plan.

Promote Forest Diversity
Manage Dog Walking
Explore Opportunities for Environmental Education

Minimize Impact of Compost and DPW Pit Area
Restore Natural Flow and Flooding Regime
Manage Grassy Area as Habitat
Implement Global Climate Change Adaptation Strategies
