Topics of Discussion:
The meeting was called to order by Donna Schenkel at 7:04 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room
of the Pleasant Street Senior Center.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved with corrections.
There was no December statement, therefore no change in the Treasurer's report.
The annual report was submitted to the MCC. Denial letters were mailed 12/19/16, so
approval letters will be sent out via email with return receipt feature. Mary Ann will prepare
a press release.
Donna brought up the topic of members'terms. Nancy, Donna and Rosemary will complete
their terms the end of June, 2017 and can renew. They all stated they planned to do so.
Our Town Survey Is scheduled for this spring. Nancy will formulate a draft and distribute.
Donna has a copy of the last survey to review for ideas. There was discussion about how to
market the survey. Ideas included emailing to our data base, having the survey available at
Town Meeting—it was unclear if this would be allowed. It was suggested to have the survey
available at Town Day in the fall, which would necessitate keeping the period to collect the
survey results open until the fall. Mary Ann will talk to John Fudo about promo and a link
for the survey in the Reading Recreation Catalogue and the Your Community Connection
publication. Another suggestion was to have the survey available at school events and at
the Senior Center. At the next meeting we will finalize these plans.
The 2017 Commonwealth Awards will be presented February 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Donna
will circulate information about It ceremony. Members are invited to attend.
Discussion turned to the idea of applying for a local council grant from the MCC to produce a
new video about the RCC. It was suggested that we approach Phil Rushworth at RCTV
about possible collaboration with Reading High School students who might be interested in
working on such a project.
New Business included discussion about whether to continue meetings in the Senior Center,
or try to get a room at the Library. Donna will look Into it.
The meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm.
