Acceptance of minutes. b. Minutes were approved 3) New business a. WASH liaison update i. Halloween Howl was successful li. Principal Ippolito and Vice Principal Quinn stayed afterschool to include the student who participate in METCO in their participation of the Halloween Howl. Often times the METCO students can't attend afterschool/evening functions due to travel. iii. Looking at the ability to support the Boston Students for attendance for future events iv. Nature's Classroom- Students social emotional needs will be taken into consideration for next year. v. Lunchroom- Students with nut allergies can sit at any nut free table instead of just their own table. A. For other information, see the WASH minutes b. Baseline data toward literacy goal Fountas and Pinnell • As a staff, we are looking at the difference between the levels and the reading behaviors that students need to have to improve their reading skills. • The various text levels have levels of skill that support student movement between each level. The letter level is the instructional level for that student. The teachers are encouraging students to think about instruction in bands. They are encouraged to choose books within a range. Page I 1 F and P assessments • One to one with the teacher • Student-teacher conference • Student reads aloud and then talks about what they glean from the text • Teacher codes the behaviors • Valuable data is collected through procedural analysis • Given three times a year but other assessments are done throughout the year. • The children are aware of the range and they are supported to make good choices for reading. • The goal is to support the students with a love of reading • We will look at grade levels fall scores and we will also examine the results throughout the year. • Currently all the teachers are using the new Fountas and Pinnell system. Each grade level has two new kits. • We look at the data and we examine who needs the most supports, what kind of supports do they need, and we want to continually look at their needs. c. MCAS data I. Four Levels Not meeting Expectations Partially Meeting Expectations Meeting Expectations Exceeding Expectations • We compare ourselves to the district and the state • The principals are using the data, to dig down deeper to see what areas we can explore and improve on • The parents reported that the individual scores had more details than in the past. • November 27th- There will be a parent meeting night to help support parents in understanding the MCAS Scores and the individual reports • Highlights o Fourth grade has a high student growth o Growth scores were solidly average in fifth grade Data Days with Staff • Teachers got a day to examine data and looked individual scores. It helps teachers to plan instruction. • They reviewed the standards. • Fourth Grade looked at the data Incoming third grade students and the fifth-grade students that they had last year. • Examined the outliers • Teachers are reaching out to families offering support • Teachers are proposing morning math if needed 4) Items for next meeting o Dr. Doherty will present to the SAC board o Attendance 5) Adjourn Page 1 2
