MINUTES OF THE READING RETIREMENT BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, May, 22, 2018
The Reading Retirement Board held a regular session meeting on May 22, 2018 in The Conference
Room at 2 Haven Street, Unit 307, Reading, Massachusetts.
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 P.M. by Chairman Thomas Clough in the presence of members
Joseph Veno, Carol Roberts, David Gentile and Board Administrator Colleen Loughlin and Assistant
Board Administrator Elaine Kelly. Sharon Angstrom was not able to attend.
MINUTES
• Minutes from the March 27, 2018 regular session were signed by all board members.
• JOSEPH VENO moved to accept the April 24, 2018 regular session minutes.

• JOSEPH VENO moved to approve a COLA increase for FY 2019, which begins on July 1, 2018 and
ends June 30, 2019, which is reflected in the Jan 1, 2017 actuarial valuation. It is limited to a
maximum amount of 3%of$12,000.

INFORMATION/QUESTIONS
• Board updated signatures for the Treasurer.
• Discussion was tabled to wait for Sharon Angstrom regarding possible Town health insurance
premium reimbursement for FYI 9.
• Margaret Plansky, who was determined to have overearnings for 2015, has made final payment to
the Reading Retirement Board. Reimbursement of$29,605.56 is complete.
• George O'Brien, who worked for the Reading School Department and retired on February 18, 1993,
passed away on May 11, 2018. He chose Option B at his retirement but there are no remaining
funds in his annuity. He retired on accidental disability retirement, but there is no spouse to receive
the section 101 benefits.
• Patricia Baltier, who worked for the Reading School Department and retired on August 31, 1985,
passed away on April 13, 2018. She chose Option A at her retirement.
• Copies of the following Reading Retirement Board reports were emailed for review:
The PRIT fund's monthly statement & fund performance for period ending April 30, 2018.
General Ledger Trial Balance as of January 31, 2018, February 28, 2018, March 31, 2018, and
April 30, 2018.

Conference Room at 2 Haven Street, Unit 307, Reading, MA
