K. Kammer opens the meeting at 7:05pm. John introduces the new members on the
committee Gill Congdon and Lori Russo. Gill and Lori both give brief introductions and the
rest of the committee does the same.
J. Borawski reports back on the field rentals before 12:00pm. She received information from
John Doherty that based on his memory there were no school groups renting before
12;00pm. He wasn't sure about outside rentals but plans to do some fact finding. J. Feudb
says he is having a meeting to discuss this topic with him and others on Thursday, June
16". J. Borawski points out that we should speak as one voice and remain consistent.
F. Driscoll asks about who rents the fields. J. Borawski answers that any rentals on Sunday
have to be passed by J. Doherty.
J. Feudo moves on to the decision on the lights. He passes around the letter indicating that
the light project is suspended to the committee. He says that the Town asked for 1 million
at Town Meeting and that the lowest bid would come out at around 1.4 million. He added
that this would only manage to do 3 fields.
D. Foley asks where the remainder of the money goes? J. Feudo answers that it would be
like it was never asked for and the money spent for borings will be owed to debt services on
that portion. J. Feudo adds that the results from the borings will not change and will be
beneficial in the future.
F. Driscoll asks J. Feudo if the prioritizing of the fields that was presented to the Board of
Selectmen have made a difference in the outcome of how many fields could be done? J.
Feudo says if the original priority of the fields was approved by the Board of Selectman then
4 could have been done instead of 3, however, that still would not have completed the
entire project therefore the result would have been the same.

A brief discussion is held on the lighting.
G. Fiorente gives a program update and shares an information sheet with the committee
that outlines current summer enrollments with prior years. She also gives an update on
summer staffing, fall programs, and the upcoming magazine.
J. Feudo brings up the demand for Pickleball. He shares an email from a resident who wants
to play outdoors and asks about chalking a tennis court at Washington Park. J. Feudo asks
for thoughts and shows the area where they are currently playing over at the old outdoor
volleyball court at RMHS. G. Congdon asks about the possibility of Barrows tennis courts
that are older. L. Russo asks about some type of usage schedule to be utilized by tennis and
pickleball players.
A brief discussion is held on future possibilities for Pickleball.
J. Feudo mentions that the division will be turning back a larger sum of money than in prior
years and will have some cash Flow to put toward repaving the Pickleball Courts for players.
He adds that this will also allow for players to play outdoors on 4 courts instead of 2. J.
Feudo says that he will also be looking to repair the fence around the basketball court.
J. Feudo also states that he is working with MUCSO on installing push to play lights at the
Bancroft Ave Community Tennis Courts. He says that it the cost to run them from April-
November is around $6,000 and the sensors will save around $3,000. G. Fiorente asks
about the lights coming off and on and if that will be an annoyance to the neighborhood. J.
Feudo says that the cost savings would trump that. He went on to say that each court will
have a push button. G. Congdon asks about motion sensor lights. J. Feudo said that was his
initial thought but anything could set that off like leaves blowing or a squirrel. J. Feudo says
that he should have a cost estimate at the end of the week.
J. Feudo also gives an update on some additional projects. He says that a back entrance
was installed at the memorial park tennis courts. E. Sisson asks about the broken gate at
Hunt. J. Feudo says it was fixed. He also goes on to say that Killam is back on the agenda to
do the field, backstop, graining, and fix drainage issues.

Kaminer nominates A. Chase for Chairman of the Recreation Committee. F. Driscoll seconds.

Committee. F. Driscoll seconds. All are in favor 6-0.

to recognize the program. He also states that RCASA has been focusing on campaigning in
relation to marijuana use that will be appearing on the 2017 ballot.
